Voices of Bengal I - bringing together for the first time on stage in Britain artists from India and Bangladesh presenting dramas, songs, dance dramas, dances and exhibition of books at the Shaw Theatre in London.

1986

Ustad Ali Akbar Khan plays for the TagoreansA month long celebration of Tagore's 125th Birth Anniversary with over 150 artists and scholars from around the world presenting dance dramas, musical events, plays, poetry recitals, seminars, workshops and art exhibitions and a major international conference on Tagore at various prestigious venues all over Britain. Participants included Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Imarat Khan, Swapan Chaudhuri, Shantidev Ghosh, Kanika Bandopadhyay, Kalim Sharafi, Maya Sen, Amitbha Chaudhuri, Shafaat Hussain Khan, Raymond Head, Bronwen Mills, William Radice.

1988

Voices of Bengal II - at the Commonwealth Institute, London.

A performance entitled Sonar Tari on a boat on the river Thames with renowned Rabindrasangeet singer Subinoy Roy.

1989

Harrow studentsJawaharlal Nehru Festival celebrating Nehru centenary hosting lectures, international commemorative conference, and musical concerts at the Commonwealth Institute, Royal Festival Hall and Harrow School (where Nehru studied). Participants included Sir Richard Attenborough, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Alla Rakha, Pt. Ashish Khan, Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri, Lady Pamela Hicks, B. K. Nehru, Prof. Nemai Sadhan Bose.

1997

Soumitra Chatterjee & Koushik Sen in TiktikiPresenting two shows of an award winning and successful play Tiktiki directed adapted from Anthony Schaffer's The Sleuth by an eminent actor, director and recipient of many awards Soumitra Chattopadhyay. The play was produced by a Calcutta based theatre group - Swapna Sandhani.

1999

Alo Andhakare - a composite programme of song, dance and recitation in May at the Unitarian Church, Golders Green. First Rabindrasangeet Sammelan at Rudolf Steiner Hall in May with Jayati Ghosh of Kolkata and Laisa Ahmed Lisa of Bangladesh. Celebration of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's centenary in October with a composite programme of songs, poems and writings by Nazrul. The script by Dr. Ghulam Murshid, and songs by eminent Nazrulsangeet artists from Bangladesh Nilufar Yasmin and Khairul Anam Shakeel.

1999

Felicitating eminent artistes in KolkataMillennium celebration at the Kalamandir, Calcutta on 26th December as a part of the Tagorean's tribute to Subinoy Roy, Kanika Bandopadhyay, Suchitra Mitra, Maya Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee and Supriyo Tagore. The Tagoreans performed a composite programme of songs, dances and recitations called Ganer Bhitor Diye.

2000

Second Rabindrasangeet Sammelan at the Rudolf Steiner Hall in May particpated by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Triptikana Das and Mahmudur Rahman Benu. The Tagoreans performed a composite programme of songs, dances and recitations called Ganer Bhitor Diye conducted by Smt. Maya Sen.

2001

Seminar on Bengali LiteratureSeminar on Bengali Literature - Pre Tagore & Post Tagore - Tagore influence at the Nehru Centre in June. Third Rabindrasangeet Sammelan at Rudolf Steiner Hall in June participated by Nupur & Diganta. The Tagoreans performed "Banshi". Bhanusingher Padabali - Tagore Dance Drama at the Nehru Centre in July. Third Rabindrasangeet Sammelan at the Rudolf Steiner Hall in June. Ananda - Mela - a fair for selling food and crafts at the Swiss Cottage Community Centre in December.

2002

Bhanusingher PadabaliCelebration of the poet Tagore's birthday on 4th May at the Golders Green Unitarian Church. Bhanusingher Padabali held at Mariott Hotel, London in July 2002 on invitation of the Silver Jubilee Reunion of CMC. Tomar Binay Gaan Chilo - a composite programme of Tagore songs, dance and recitation at the Intimate Theatre on 14th July - participated by Purnima Ghosh and Jayashree Dasgupta of Kolkata.

Programme by Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta Rabindrasangeet and Tagore & Symphony orchestra a presentation by Dr Partha Ghose, an eminent scientist and musician. A musical programme by the renowned Rabindrasangeet artist from Kolkata Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta at the Commonwealth Institute.

2004

Africa by Kalamandir from New Jersey, USAA Talk by Prof Subhankar Chakrabarty, ex Vice Chancellor, Rabindrabharati University. on celebration of the International Women’s Day at the Steiner Theatre in March. Performance of Bhanusingher Padabali at the invitation of "The Friends of Bangladesh" at St. Monica's Theatre, Palmers Green in April. Rabindra Sammelan – a celebration of Tagore’s birth anniversary with Tagore’s portrayal of women’s love by Anchalik from Birmingham, Tagore songs based on Western compositions by Anuradha & Pushan Pal Chowdhury from Cardiff, and a composition based on Tagore's poem "Africa" by "Kalamandir" from New Jersey, USA - in May. A musical evening on Kadambari Devi with recitations by Mr Soumitra Mitra, an eminent orator and actor and songs by Ananda Gupta and Manoshi Barua in August.

2005

Balmiki PratibhaA The Tagoreans have staged a a very successful production of Valmiki Pratibha with Haimanti Shukla singing Nazrul songs marking a highly acclaimed joint celebration of Tagore and Nazrul birth anniversaries. The show had a packed house at the Steiner Theatre in central London and added yet another feather to the Tagoreans' cap in that this was the first time Valmiki Pratibha was staged outside India- in the west. Valmiki Pratibha is one of the most challenging of Tagore's dance dramas and the Tagoreans production was not only colourful, it was authentic and the painted backdrop was brought over from Kolkata and umpteen props gave the show the power and conviction it needed. There were two more successful performances of this musical opera by The Tagoreans as Nandikar programmepart of the Hillingdon Art's Festival in June 2008 and the Season of Bangla Drama in the eastend of London in the same year.

The Tagoreans had presented three plays by Nandikar, the renowned drama group of Kolkata. The plays were Shesh Sakshatkaar, Pata Jhoray Jai and Barda. Nandikar stalwarts -Rudraprasad Sengupta, Swatilekha Sengupta, Gautam Halder and Debshankar Halder made a huge impact on the theatre loving public in London

2006

Tagore & ElmhirstFollowing a highly acclaimed presentation by the Tagoreans at the English Speaking Union's celebration of Tagore's Gift to West in March 2005, the Tagoreans had made a ground-breaking presentation of a sketch of Tagore's Dartington connection. An illustrated multi-media talk with songs, dances, readings and audio visual slides was presented at the Nehru Centre on 15th March 2006 to highlight Tagore's path breaking contributions to rural development in India. Entitled "From Sriniketan to the Foundations of Dartington" focused on Tagore's vision to uplift the rural life in Sriniketan by promoting agricultural economy and the influence of his ideals on Leonard Elmhirst to form the Dartington Hall in Devon. An elaborated version of this programme was later presented in Kolkata 0n 3rd January 2009.

2007

Bisarjan play by TagoreansTagoreans's staged their own production Tagore's play Bisarjan (The Sacrifice) at the Intimate Theatre on June 3, 2007. The Sacrifice is a play by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore that explores the meaning of true religious devotion and exposes the heinous, barbaric and brutal acts perpetrated by the fundamental religious orthodoxy, in the name of religion and God.

William Radice at SeminarThe Tagoreans had organised a highly successful seminar on 14th October 2007 to celebrate the 60th year of India's independence. The seminar entitled 'India's new tryst with destiny' at the SOAS discussed the impact of India's visible economic progress and it's emergence as one of the major economic powers and the challenges that lay ahead for the country. A distinguished panel of speakers Vince Cable at Seminar addressed issues ranging from economic successes vis a vis huge economic disparity in India, it's 60 years experiment with democracy and it's huge security and social challenges. Mr Rajat Bagchi of the Indian High Commission opened the seminars and other speakers included Dr Vince Cable (Deputy Leader, LDP), Dr Martin Kampchen (Santiniketan), Dr William Radice (SOAS), Dr S Mahmud Ali (Defence analyst), Prof. Sumantra Bose (LSE), Dr Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay (Economist, Oxford) & others. The seminar was chaired by late Mr Michael Marland CBE.

2008

Nehru Centre programmeA highly creative and thought provoking programme celebrating Tagore's 147th and Nazrul's 109th birth anniversaries at the Nehru Centre on 26th May 2008. The composite presentation included songs, dance choreographies stringed through narrations. The Chief guest was Prof Tapan Roy Chaudhury, Professor Emeritus at Oxford University who gave a thought provoking talk on Tagore-Nazrul and the state of tolerance. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Indian High Commissioner, Mr Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, and the Bangladeshi High Commissioner Shafi U Ahmed. The Director of the Nehru Centre introduced the show..

2009

Maya Sen FelicitationThe legendary Rabindrasangeet teacher and singer Mrs Maya Sen was felicitated by The Tagoreans on the occasion of her 80th birthday on 3rd January at the G D Birla Sabhaghar auditorium through a launch of her CD- Anandadhara (from Bhavna Records) by the Kolkata Mayor, Mr Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya. A special presentation of "From Sriniketan to Dartington" followed, with an introduction by Professor Tapan Roy Chaudhury on Tagore and rural development ideals. The music for the show was conducted by Maya Sen. Swagatalakhsmi Dasgupta, Pramita Mallick, Jayati Ghosh were among other singers who had paid musical tributes to Maya Sen.

Felicitation of Shankr & SunilThe Tagoreans felicitated two legendary Bengali writers Sunil Gangopadhyay and Mani Shankar Mukherjee (popularly known as Shankar) on 19th April 2009 in the Jubilee room of the Indian YMCA in London. This special event also incorporated illustrated talks "Kobi O Kadombari" composed by the Kolkata based writer/journalist Shankar Lal Bhattacharya to commemorate Tagore's sister-in-law Kadambari Devi's 125th death anniversary
