Bisarjan staged at Intimate Theratre - June 2007
Staging of Bisarjan
The Tagoreans celebrate Rabindra and Nazrul Jayanti with recitation by Kolkata based reciter - Saumitra Mitra and Tagore's play Bisarjan (The Sacrifice) at the Intimate Theatre on June 3, 2007.

The programme was in two parts with Rabindrasangeet and Nazrulgeeti in the first half choreographed with dance. The songs were performed by Kamalendu Chatterjee and dance by Tanuka Saha. A special attractionw as the recitation and poetry reading by Saumitra Mitra - the noted actor and poetry reader from Kolkata.

The second part of the evening was dedicated to the staging of Tagoreans's own production of Tagore's play Bisarjan (The Sacrifice). The Sacrifice is a play by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore that explores the meaning of true religious devotion and exposes the heinous, barbaric and brutal acts perpetrated by the fundamental religious orthodoxy, in the name of religion and God. The cast included Asit Choudhury as Raghupati the priest, Sisir Chakraborty as Joysingha, Manoshi Barua as Aparna, Jayanta Ray as Raja Gabindamanikya and Manisha Smith as Gunabati amiong others. The dancers included Tanuka Saha, Meghna Sengupta and Amith Jacob Chowdhury.

The show was a resounding success.
