The members of the Tagoraens turned up in Kolkata in January 2009 to felicitate the legendary Rabindrasangeet teacher and singer Mrs Maya Sen. The Tagoreans on the honoured her on the occasion of her 80th birthday on 3rd January at the G D Birla Sabhaghar auditorium through a launch of her CD, Anandadhara (from Bhavna Records) by the Kolkata Mayor, Mr Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya. A special presentation of "From Sriniketan to Dartington" followed, with an introduction by Professor Tapan Roy Chaudhury on Tagore and rural development ideals. The music for the show was conducted by Maya Sen. Swagatalakhsmi Dasgupta, Pramita Mallick, Jayati Ghosh were among other singers who had paid musical tributes to Maya Sen.
The show was a resounding success. |
